When the International Yacht Broker's Association set out to create the marine industry’s most accurate MLS database, they partnered with Vacancy to build the brand from the ground up. The challenge: appeal to both veteran yacht brokers and a new class of tech-savvy, high-net-worth buyers, all while reclaiming control from third-party listing sites. We led the naming, brand identity, and rollout of Yachtr, a platform designed to make buying and selling yachts seamless, trustworthy, and distinctly modern.

Naming

We began with our proprietary naming workshop, guiding the client through a structured process to explore naming territories rooted in clarity, trust, and innovation. The chosen name—Yachtr—fuses two core ideas: yacht and gather. It reflects the platform’s MLS technology and its deeper mission: to connect people to their dream boat through real-time, accurate listings. Short, modern, and digital-friendly, Yachtr delivers meaning and memorability in equal measure.

Brand Identity

The visual identity was designed to communicate confidence, speed, and professionalism. A bold, geometric logo anchors the brand, while a deep navy palette and clean sans-serif typography project trust and clarity. Every element is optimized for performance across digital listings, mobile, print, and ad creative, ensuring the brand feels seamless from search to sale.

Brand Rollout

To launch Yachtr, we developed a dual email journey: one for brokers and one for consumers. The broker flow emphasized data protection, lead quality, and professional control, while the consumer journey focused on trustworthy listings, real-time updates, and ease of use. With Yachtr, Vacancy helped build more than a brand, we built a bridge between industry expertise and user-friendly tech.
